Our wedding day started with our Temple sealing ceremony in the San Diego California LDS Temple. Later that afternoon, we had a ring ceremony at Seagrove Park on the beach in Del Mar, California. A dinner reception followed immediately afterwards.

The San Diego Temple has been my favorite temple for as long as I can remember.
This was hands down one of my favorite moments of the wedding day.
Seeing my best girlfriends for the first time afterwards!
I love these girls more than life itself.
Me, with Tara, Heather and Liz.
My little niece and flower girl, Jane. She gets a little shy around the camera sometimes 🙂
My special, special grandmother. She and I have always had a special bond. I love her with all of my heart. She is 95 and SO with it. Just a couple of years ago, she was still hopping on the jet ski during our family vacation up at Bear Lake. She is funny, smart, kind, generous, and simply amazing.
With the Van Camp family: Casey, Jason’s brother, his wife Marcia, their daughter Aurora, me, Jason, Jason’s dad and his sister Maggie.
Jason’s mission buddies – Luke Saari and Kelly Brinkerhoff. They all served together in the Russia, St. Petersburg mission.

My best friends from my running days in college and after. We have been through everything together. Years and years of competing, training together, crying together, getting through injuries together and winning nationals together. I couldn’t have gotten through college without them!

Tara, my best friend all through college and after. We were joined at the hip for five years straight, while we ran track and cross country at BYU. We were roommates, besties, partners in crime and have a lifetime of memories I’ll never forget. I absolutely love her to pieces.

Abby, my best friend all growing up. Her mom and my mom were best friends since Abby and I were two years old. 🙂 Abby is one of the smartest, most adventurous people you will ever meet and she means the world to me. I’m so lucky to have her as a friend.

My bff Heather. This girl is the classiest girl I know. She is beautiful inside and out, brilliant, talented and has a heart of gold. You have no idea how much she did for me during my engagement and wedding. This girl put together the most epic bachelorette party/bridal shower I have ever seen, stayed up late helping me finish my wedding jewelry, picked up things for me from my parents house in Utah that I’d forgotten after I was already in San Diego. If I kept listing the things she has done for me, this post would never end. I don’t know what I would do without her!

Yes, we are both named Liz, no, we are not sisters. 🙂 I love this girl to pieces. She has been one of my best friends for years. She is one of the most loyal, Christlike, kind hearted, friendly, non-judgemental people you will ever meet. Ever. She is bubbly and bursting with positive energy and she always makes you feel like a million dollars. I feel so lucky to have her in my life.

Jo and I. I adore this girl! She is brilliant, gorgeous, fun, and am amazing tennis player. 🙂 Jo and I both love to follow tennis and love meeting up in Palm Springs for the BNP Paribas Open whenever we’re both there.

Our morning at the temple:
Our sealing ceremony time was 11:00am, but my Mom and I went over early so that I could be there to finish getting ready and to feel more settled. There was so much going on, and so much to do while I was in San Diego, and so I just wanted to have a couple hours of calm and quiet. I thought going over early would minimize any stress with getting there on time and give me a chance to relax and feel peaceful before I got married.
I loved the temple ceremony! I felt so happy and so excited. I just remember having a huge smile on my face when I walked in the room, and feeling so happy when I saw all my close friends and family inside. I just loved it. A few people took notes after leaving so that we could remember some of the things that were said.
Afterwards, I went back up to the brides room to change into my wedding dress. My mom and my sister came along to help me. We curled my hair and touched up my makeup. They helped me put on my wedding dress and bridal shoes. The brides room was absolutely goregous. It had a huge full length mirror next to the dressing table, and so it was the first time I got to really see my entire dress. I couldn’t believe how it turned out. I am still so thrilled at the thought of my dress. I just LOVED it. It would never have turned out without the hours and hours of work by my mom and sisters. It was exactly what I wanted and I am still giddy when I think about it.
One of my favorite parts of the entire wedding day was walking around the temple after the ceremony. All the darling temple workers kept saying, “Ahhh!” or “Oh wow!” when they saw the dress, followed by something like “Your dress is exquisite”, or “You look just like Cinderella.” I really felt like a princess. They were all so sweet. Even when I came back inside after the pictures were over, the ladies helping me said that everyone they ran into temple kept asking “Did you see Cinderella?!” and that everyone was gushing about the dress. It was so fun to be all dressed up in a big princess dress for my special day. I’ll never forget it.
After my mom and sister helped me get my wedding dress on, I came out of the brides room into the upper hall at the top of the main stairs and waited for Jason to come out of the room on the other side. He came out and saw me in my dress. He got a huge smile on his face and walked over towards me. He was speechless. I smiled and said “Do you like my dress?” He said, “This is the most beautiful dress I have ever seen in my entire life.” He kept staring at me and was so incredibly sweet. I will never forget that feeling. He helped me down the stairs where my bouquet and his boutonniere were waiting.
We waited for a bit for all the guests to come to the front. Somehow, a couple of the temple workers hadn’t gotten the memo that we were coming out the front. They had told everyone to go around to the back, so everyone had to make their way to the front. Once everyone had gathered, we made our exit.
We first walked out of the inner doors. Then, as we walked towards the glass outer doors, people started to see us. I heard everyone breathe in and say “Ohhhh!!!” when they first saw my dress. Again, I felt like a princess. Jason and I then walked all the way out the outer doors and everyone celebrated.
They told everyone that we should avoid cheering loudly, shouting, etc. since we would be heard easily in the temple lobby. Even though we had to be a little quieter, I was SOOO excited they let us come out the front doors! They almost always have the newlyweds come out the back – which I didn’t want to do. Our photographer kept asking how on earth we got to come out the front doors. She had done tons of weddings there, and for every single one, they were told to come out the back doors. I had asked them ahead of time if there was any way we could come out of the front doors. They were hesitant, but said they would let us if we made sure to not have anyone take pictures of the inside of the temple and to not have our guests cheer loudly when we exited. I am so happy we got to use the front doors!
After we celebrated, hugged and talked, we took some family and friend pictures. Then, our guests headed out and our photographer took Jason and I around the temple for some bride and groom pictures.
After we finished taking Bride and Groom pictures at the temple, Jason and I headed up to Seagrove Park in Del Mar to get ready for our ring ceremony and the dinner reception.
My Mom, Dad, sisters, brothers, and Natalie, our florist, were there getting things set up. I can’t believe how much they did in such a short time.
Natalie single handedly constructed all the centerpieces, floral arrangements, the flower petal aisle and the arbor in a matter of hours. She is amazing.
My mom and sisters put together the entire reception space – from the tablecloths and chargers, to the favors, kids table, centerpiece arrangements, picture frames, and the rest of the decor. They also helped Natalie get everything in place and made sure everything was perfect.
My Dad and brothers were hard at work setting up the arbor. My Dad, Jason and I actually designed the arbor and then built it in my parent’s back yard a few weeks before the wedding. My Dad packed it up, strapping it to the top of the car and drove it out to San Diego. I was so happy with how it turned out.
By the time Jason and I got to Del Mar, we had no more than an hour before it was time to get changed and ready for the ring ceremony to start. Heather and Liz got there shortly after that and helped me touch up my hair and makeup and put my dress back on. Finally, we headed up to the park for the ring ceremony to start.
Romney brought me my bouquet. I had one bouquet for the temple in the morning, and one bouquet for the evening. I loved this second bouquet because it had a little more peach in it. I wanted the flowers to be a mix of peach and pink, so I loved the colors in this one. 🙂
The ring ceremony was another one of my favorite parts of the entire wedding day. The wedding participants lined up at the top of the park, waiting for the ceremony to start. The music started and in we walked: first Justin, our officiant, then Jason, the groom, then the mother of the bride, and parents of the groom (Jason’s sister Maggie represented their mother), then the best man and groomsmen, then the bridesmaids, then all the little kids. Romney pulled the wagon carrying Miles, Sam and Aurora. Then Maggie followed, making sure they were all ok. Then came Dan, John and Will. Finally, Joe, our ring bearer and Jane, my little flower girl.
Lastly, I walked down the aisle with my Dad. This was for sure one of the highlights of the wedding for me.
Justin officiated and then Jason and I both said a few words and exchanged rings.
Maggie pinning a boutonniere on Andy, one of Jason’s groomsmen.
The ring ceremony begins. Justin, our officiant and my brother-in-law walked in first, followed by the groom and the best man.
The best man, Jason’s brother, Casey.
Jason’s Dad and his sister, Maggie, representing her mother.
My darling mom. I don’t know what I would do without her.
My sister, and maid of honor, Sarah.
After the ring ceremony finished, everyone headed down to the reception patio for hors d’ouvres. Jason and I took some more bride and groom pictures, then followed everyone down to start the dinner. We entered the dinner area with Jason’s buddies doing a sword gauntlet – a tradition for West Point graduates.
We had the dinner, followed by toasts from my Mom and Dad, Jason’s Dad and sister, Maggie and then the maid of honor, my sister Sarah, and the best Man, Jason’s brother, Casey.
After dinner was over, we headed inside where I danced with my Dad to Daughters by John Mayer. Next, Jason and I had our first dance, to the acoustic version of Cowboys and Angels by Dustin Lynch.
We cut the cake, threw the bouquet and the garter, then exited the celebration with everyone blowing bubbles as we made our exit.
I will never forget my wedding day. It was so special. A few things fell through the cracks, and I wish I could have done everything perfectly, but in the end, those things just don’t matter that much to me. The important things were absolutely perfect. And more than anything, I feel so incredibly lucky to be with Jason for eternity. He is my best friend and the best thing that ever happened to me.
